As I'm finishing up my first semester taking courses in the communications department I feel more confident about my career path. I started working for Whole Foods Market 3 years ago in 2009. Once I realized how much the company cares about their team member's health and happiness, I had zero vision to work anywhere else. In the last few years I have lost about 80 pounds which has shaped my personal vision of what it means to be healthy and happy. At Whole Foods Market I have been taken care of on a day-to-day business with the strong passion and work ethic I naturally carry with me. I enjoy all of the challenges handed to me and I have proven many skills I never knew I had.
One of my mentors, Rod, has a motto he shares with his team, "Run it like you own it." Driving myself to take ownership of what I do and to also take ownership of how I am going to become an investment for the company is what will take me up the ladder. In the last 3 years I have moved up from being hired as a team member in the bakery working on cake decorating, bread and pastry baking and retail, towards training, supervising, and am currently a buyer and taking care of the department financials. I continue to carry the knowledge and skills from all of my positions with me in order to keep my mind focused on all aspects. Bringing all levels of experience with me as I am being sculpted into a team leader and a bakery field associate for the region is part of my plan to working my way up the company until I find the perfect fit for what I have to offer the company. I hope for myself working in the corporate offices with advertisement and public relations because I have a great voice for Whole Foods Market and I have a strong passion for working with the company on developing ways for succeeding.
